How do I start using CardKing?

The instructions might look like a lot, but we covered a lot of options and duplicated a lot so you will know exactly how easy it is to use CardKing.  Believe us, it is easy.

INSTRUCTIONS - SHORT VERSION

For 3GS iPhone

From the Home Page “+”, tap Category, tap Merchant’s Name, tap Custom Title if desired, tap Scan Barcode, if CardKing scans barcode, tap Save & you are Finished. If CardKing does not recognize barcode, tap Card Number field, enter all characters exactly as they appear on your card, without the spaces, if CardKing knows the barcode language it will display only one barcode, tap Save.  If CardKing does not know the language, you will see a button “Select Barcode” – tap it and you will see barcodes with the most likely match on top.  Tap the barcode that matches the barcode on your iPhone. Tap Save and you are Finished.

NOTE:  If none of the barcodes match your card, then repeat to make sure you did not accidentally leave out a number or character.  Still doesn’t match, let us know at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

For Non 3GS iPhones and iPods

From the Home Page tap “+”, tap Category, tap Merchant’s Name, tap Custom Title if desired, tap Card Number field, enter all characters exactly as they appear on your card, without the spaces, tap Done, if CardKing knows the barcode language it will display only one barcode, tap Save.  If CardKing does not know the language, you will see a button “Select Barcode” – tap it and you will see barcodes with the most likely match on top.  Tap the barcode that matches the barcode on your iPhone. Tap Save and you are Finished.

To Recall your iCard™

Tap CardKing on your iPhone / iPod. You should be at your Home Page. Tap the merchant’s name and you will see your iCard™. To return to your Home Page, tap CardKing on the upper left corner.

If you want additional information, tap the “Contact” button and you will see the OneTouch™ buttons which will take you directly to the Merchant’s website URL, sign up or login page, email and / or store locator.  Tap the “phone” button and you can call them directly, except for the iPod.  If the button is not highlighted, then this feature is disabled or simply not available.  Access these features with OneTouch™.

INSTRUCTIONS - LONG VERSION

From the Home Page, tap the “+” symbol on the top right of the Home Page.  You will now see the Categories Page.  Simply tap the “Category” your store / association falls under and you will see a list of stores.  Tap on the store name and you will see the store’s name and logo with a “Custom Title” field.  If you want to enter a “Custom Title”, such as “MyCard” in case you have two different Cards for the same Store (such as you and your spouse/child belong to the same Health Club but have different accounts), touch the field and the keyboard will pop up for you to add a custom title.  You may enter a Password, PIN #, VIN #, Credit Card #, Union #, Serial #, Expiration Date or other vital information as you wish.  Tap “Done” when finished.

You will now see “Card Number” with Three Buttons (Scan / Enter / None) and the Card Number Field.

If you have a 3GS iPhone, you can either Tap “Scan” or Touch the “Card Number Field” and manually Enter the numbers and characters.

If you can scan the barcode, tap the “Scan” button and your camera will take a snapshot of the barcode on your card.  Please make sure your card is on a flat, well lit surface.  Hold your iPhone / camera a few inches away from the barcode while centering the card image in the middle of the screen just like when you take a picture of your friends.  Do NOT press anything.  Let iPhone automatically take the picture when it focuses.  You may hear a ping indicating it scanned and recognized the barcode.  You will then see the barcode at the bottom of the page so tap “Done” and you are Finished.

If CardKing tried to scan the barcode and did not recognize the code, then you will have to tap the “Cancel” button.  Then you will have to manually enter the letters and numbers (also known as “alpha-numerics”).  Do not be disappointed.  CardKing’s scanner is learning how to recognize more barcodes every day.  In this case, please follow Option Two below.

If you do not have a 3GS iPhone or you have an iPod, kindly follow these directions.

There are three (3) Options ahead of you.

The First Option is your Card has a barcode and CardKing knows the barcode language (known as symbology).

The Second Option is your Card has a barcode and CardKing does NOT know the symbology, so CardKing will generate different barcodes and you simply select the barcode that matches the barcode on your Card.

The Third Option is your Card does NOT have a barcode, so CardKing will not generate a barcode and you are just saving the Merchant’s name and your account number. This is very popular in the Frequent Flyer, Hotel, Car Rental, Association, Union Category and other Categories.

Determine which Option listed above you wish to follow.

Touch the “Card Number” field and the keyboard will pop up.

Option One, enter ALL of the numbers and letters in the “Card Number” field EXACTLY as they appear on your Card, without any spaces. Tap “Done” when finished. If CardKing knows the barcode symbology, you will see the barcode generated by CardKing so tap “Save” on the top right of the screen and you will go to your Home Page. You are Finished.

Option Two, enter ALL of the numbers and letters in the “Card Number” field EXACTLY as they appear on your Card, without any spaces.  Tap “Done” when finished.  If CardKing does NOT know the barcode symbology, then you will see the “Select Barcode” button, so Tap it and you will see a list of barcodes presented to you that CardKing generated with the most likely choice at the top of the list.  Tap the barcode that matches the barcode on your reward /loyalty card, etc. and you will be taken back to the “Edit Screen/Add Merchant”.  Simply tap the “Save” button and you will go to your Home Page.  You are Finished.

Option Three is for cards that do not have barcodes.  Simply enter ALL of the numbers and letters in the “Card Number” field EXACTLY as they appear as your Card, without any spaces.  Tap “Done” when finished.  Then tap “Save” on the top right of the screen and you will go to your Home Page.  You are Finished.

To Recall your iCard™

When you are ready to retrieve and display the iCard, simply Tap the CardKing Logo on your iPhone or iPod and you will be instantly taken to your Home Page with your List of Merchants.  Tap the “Card or Name” you wish and you will see the Merchant’s / Association’s name, logo and barcode if any.  If you want additional information, Tap the “Merchant Info” button and you will see the OneTouch™ buttons which will take you directly to the Merchant’s website URL, sign up or login page, email and / or store locator.  Tap the “telephone” button and you can call them directly, except on the iPod.  If any buttons are not highlighted, then these features are disabled or simply not available.  Access these features with OneTouch™.

Remember, you may leave the CardKing™ app when you Tap some of the options above, so you will need to Tap CardKing™ from your iPhone / iPod to go back to us.

To Enter a “Merchant Not On List”

From the Home Page, Tap “+”, tap “Merchant Not On List”, tap “Merchant Name” field, enter merchant name on keyboard, tap “Done”, tap “Category” field, select Category from “spinning wheel”, tap “Select”, tap “Save”, tap “Custom Title” field if you want a unique name / number, tap “Done”, tap “Card Number” field”, enter ALL of the numbers and letters in the “Card Number” field EXACTLY as they appear on your Card, without any spaces.  Tap “Done” when finished. Then tap the “Select Barcode” button and you will see a list of barcodes presented to you that CardKing generated with the most likely choice at the top of the list.  Tap the barcode that matches the barcode on your card and you will be taken back to the “Edit Screen/Add Merchant”.  Simply tap the “Save” button and you will go to your Home Page.  You are Finished.
